Hi, I’m Rury McBride. I graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2008 and worked in Glasgow for 3 years before I moved to Australia seeking an adventure and some sunshine. I got plenty of both on the Gold Coast before the allure of Melbourne proved too much and I made the switch in late 2013.
Since then I have become a coffee “expert” and a very poor but enthusiastic surfer. Australia is a fantastic place and I feel blessed to be here. From sky –diving in the Whitsundays to enjoying a cricket test at the MCG and Persian dancing at a Baha’i wedding, I have tried to embrace everything good about the Ozzy way of life.
Professionally, I have invested in continuing education and improving my skill set focussing on implants, oral surgery and cosmetics. I love technology and digital innovation – it’s rapidly affecting every facet of our lives and dentistry is no different. Currently there is loud, brash revolution in this industry and although exciting, it can be confusing for people. My motto is “keep it clear and simple”. I use photography as much as I can – my patients’ love it.
Although I enjoy these aspects of the job, I understand these solutions are not for everyone. I do like to spend time with my patients, ensuring I go over all the options available. Sometimes a removable denture is a more suitable option rather than a fixed bridge – it’s okay, I offer a full range of treatments.
I pride myself in gentle, pain free dentistry. Often I am approached by people who have been recommended by friends to see me who are too nervous to sit in my office! There is always a way to help – sleep dentistry is a growing in popularity and I’ve been doing it for years.
